📚 Early elementary English · free & open source
English Quest
A free, open-source early-reading program for children ages 4–9 — growing from first letter sounds and phonics into vocabulary, grammar, and confident reading. Built for kids, and for the parents and teachers guiding them.
This whole course is open. It is plain data — a single english.course.yml composing the engine's building blocks. Read it, learn from it, or fork it to build your own.
How it teaches
The same research-backed approach runs through every lesson.
Sounds before spelling
Children meet each letter as a sound first and blend sounds into words, the systematic-phonics path to decoding.
One skill per stop
Each station focuses on a single pattern and builds on the last, so reading grows step by step.
Remember it, don’t cram it
A spaced-review deck brings earlier words and patterns back so they stick.
A patient, friendly guide
Luna the owl narrates every step in short, warm sentences a new reader can follow.
What your child learns — the worlds
Each world is a themed stage that builds on the last. Open one to see every activity broken down step by step, with the pedagogy and the open config.
