Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 June 2026
Welcome to Discovery Quest. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Discovery Quest website at discoveryquest.app and its subdomains, and the Discovery Quest learning apps (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by Pavel Kerbel, an individual based in Israel ("Discovery Quest", "we", "us"). You can contact us at hello@discoveryquest.app.
2. The Service
Discovery Quest provides playful, educational quests for children, plus an optional parent account for backing up a child's progress and viewing a progress dashboard. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
3. Children and parents
Discovery Quest is designed for young children, intended to be used under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Accounts are for parents/guardians (18+) only. If you create an account, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose progress you choose to save, and you consent to our handling of that information as described in our Privacy Policy. Children may play without any account, in which case no personal information is collected.
4. Accounts
Parent accounts are provided through our authentication partner. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@discoveryquest.app if you suspect unauthorized use.
5. Fees
The Service is currently provided free of charge. We don't process payments today. If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll present clear pricing and updated terms before you're charged.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its data;
- misuse the Service in any way that could harm children or other users.
7. Open source & contributions
Discovery Quest's engine and course format are open source. The engine code is licensed under
AGPL-3.0 and the official course content under CC BY-SA 4.0; see
the public repository and its
LICENSING.md. Those licenses govern the open-source code and content. These
Terms govern your use of the hosted Service (the website and apps we run). If you
contribute to the project, your contribution is governed by the contributor terms (CLA) in the
repository, not by these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
The "Discovery Quest" name, logos, the Luna character, artwork, audio, and the hosted apps are owned by us and are not covered by the open-source licenses above. You may not use our branding without permission. Subject to these Terms, you may use the Service for your family's personal, educational use.
9. Third-party services
We rely on third-party providers to run the Service (for example, authentication, hosting, analytics on our marketing site, and text-to-speech). Their handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Educational content is provided for general learning and is not a substitute for a formal curriculum or professional advice. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Because the Service is currently free, our total liability for any claim is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
12. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, give notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@discoveryquest.app. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are violated or to protect users or the Service.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you rights in your own place of residence.
